"Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, "The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall. ²⁰ Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us."  (Nehemial 4:19-20)

The suburb-of-Atlanta town, Lilburn, that I live in is currently facing a challenging situation over the proposed development of a Dar-e Abbas Islamic Center that will include a 20,000 square foot mosque, a gymnasium and a cemetery on 8 acres of land owned by Lilburn Mayor Diane Preston.  The Lilburn City Counsel will vote on the proposal to rezone the property to allow for this development on WEDNESDAY, November 18, beginning at 7:30 pm.  The Lilburn Planning & Zoning Commission met last Thursday, and has recommended AGAINST the proposal, and it is now up to the City Counsel to make the final determination.

We are sounding the trumpet and asking you to you please join us in prayer petitioning the Lord, the Lord of lords and the Supreme Justice of the entire universe who sits over the court of heaven, to rule in righteousness and justice on behalf of our community in answer to our cries for mercy and utter dependence upon Him.  Below, I have included a "petition the court of heaven prayer" for our use this week.  Feel free to adapt as the Holy Spirit leads.

This is an opportunity for us to take our place as the ECCLESIA to legislate what comes into our city and state - to see this territory look like the territory of the One who has sent us here in His Name, as His ambassadors to see this community look more like His Kingdom.

I plan to be at the City Counsel meeting  pleading the blood of Jesus over the atmosphere and declaring the  Lordship of Christ, the power of His blood, and His Name to silence every expression of the enemy from being victorious -- our God reigns and He has set us here that men may seek the Lord and know Him.

Regarding the aspect of the cemetery: There are very few dedicated Islamic Cemeteries in the US or in Canada.  Of note, Islamic practice based on the Qu'ran does not include burial in a coffin, and requires that the body of the deceased is washed, wrapped/shrouded and buried immediately.

Father God, Righteous Judge of all the Universe, we petition You this day in the mighty Name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, on behalf of our community known as Lilburn, Georgia.

This day we find our community surrounded and infiltrated by increasing idolatry found in religious practices of the Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims, along with increased paganism, agnosticism, atheism, and compromised religions that quote Your Holy Word, but deny the truth of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, such as the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the practices of the Freemasons.  Additionally, Father, we confess that we, as Your people, have fallen short of walking in the fullness of faith, love, holiness, truth, righteousness, justice, and boldness in obedience to stand upon Your Word by Your Holy Spirit.  We have sinned against You and against our community, and we humbly ask for Your forgiveness and for Your mercy to be extended over our lives for Your Name's sake.

While we have endeavored to address issues of sin, iniquitous patterns, idolatry, covenant breaking, bloodshed, and violence that have occurred in this region over the known history of men and women living on this land, in order to cleanse the land of all the defilement that has been sown into the land, we openly acknowledge that we have not yet been granted knowledge, insight or understanding to break the cycle of defilement that continues to draw the workers of iniquity through false religious systems to be established in our community.   In this place, we humbly ask for mercy and for Your cleansing grace to rid this land of all that defiles and opposes Your holiness.

We stand in the gap on behalf of our religious and political leaders who even up to this day continue to compromise the integrity of Your Commands by extending the key to the city of Lilburn to the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Temple, for our current mayor agreeing to sell her property to the Muslims for personal gain at the expense of the well-being of our community, and for various others ways in which compromise and political correctness have opened the door for those who oppose and deny the Lordship of Christ to be established within our borders.  Furthermore, we confess that while these who have come into our communities in need of knowing Christ, we have chosen to cohabit with these rarely proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom that leads to salvation with them in effective means.  For these sins, and others unmentioned here, we ask for Your forgiveness and mercy upon our leaders and upon all who live in this community for we have sinned against You, against Your people, and against this community.

To You, the Almighty Righteous & True Judge, we make our petition that You would rule on behalf of Your people for Your own Name's sake and issue an order from heaven to forbid the further advancement of Islam into our community, specifically that the proposed Dar-E-Abbas Mosque, Activity Center, and Cemetery will be DENIED and FORBIDDEN in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Furthermore, we petition You Almighty God, for a release of Your Holy Spirit over this community to AWAKEN Your people to live and love as Christ-like ones in faith and the power of Your Holy Spirit, to OPEN the windows of Heaven over this Community that all who live here might come to know Christ, and to begin to REFORM this community to reflect more of Your Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, according to Your Word.

Together we decree Kingdom of God Come, Will of God Be in Lilburn, as it is in heaven, in the mighty and awesome Name of Jesus, the Name above All Names.  Amen.
